Winter Activities

While it might not seem like a central location when you look at the map, Silverthorne is actually a perfect launching spot for getting to any of the Summit County and surrounding ski resorts. When you can reach your choice of Loveland, A-Basin, Keystone, Copper Breckenridge or Vail in 35 minutes or less, you can easily wake up and decide where to go for the day based on snow and road conditions.  If you prefer not to ride the lifts, you can Nordic ski or show shoe for free at the Nordic center, ice skate on the North Pond, go shopping at the Outlets or enjoy one of the numerous spas.

Summer Activities

If you love to be outside you’ll love Silverthorne in the summer.  The choices for hiking are endless, with so many trails available in the Eagles Nest Wilderness and the Williams Fork range. You’ve got both the lower Blue River and the upper Colorado, so if white water kayaking, SUPing or rafting is your thing you’ve got some great choices. Green Mountain Reservoir is only 17 miles to the north, which is the only large lake in the area that allows swimming, so it is a perfect spot for wake boarding, tubing, and water skiing in addition to boating and SUPing. The paved bike path leads along the river and up to the Summit County network of paths, allowing you to road bike all the way to Keystone, Breck, Copper or Vail with no cars to worry about.  Rainbow Park is an awesome spot to picnic and play with a skate park, tennis courts and sand volleyball courts.  The Raven Golf Club at Three Peaks offers a stunningly beautiful and challenging mountain course that Golf Magazine says is one of the top 10 courses you can play in the US.
